Organize: Master Bathroom

As a recovering pack-rat, my goal this year is to simplify. I'm going through my entire house- every room, closet, cabinet, corner, and shelf. I'm throwing out what I don't truly need, abolishing clutter, and organizing whatever's left. I've made a lot of progress sofar, and it feels great! But more on that in another post.

Today I decided to tackle the Master Bathroom. I can't believe I'm going to share these pics! Who willingly posts pictures of the inside of their bathroom cabinets on the internet for anyone to see? But in the spirit of education and inspiration, I'll take the hit.

Under Sink 1-Before:

Gross! How embarrassing! Okay, quick- look at the afters!

Why yes, that is a diaper basket. It has special sections in it that are just perfect for holding diapers and a box of wipes. But it just so happens that they're also perfect for holding extra bottles of shampoo, bars of soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

That little blue plastic tub has my makeup in it. Isn't that fancy? I feel just like a diva every morning when I pull it out. But hey- it keeps my powder makeup flat so that it doesn't fly around all over the place, so it works for now.

And that little glass dish? That's full of homemade deodorant. But that's another post for another day. Moving right along...

Under Sink 2-Before:

And after:

I wasn't as happy with this one as I was with the cabinet under sink 1. It would look a lot better with a couple of big baskets to put the stuff in. But I ran out of baskets.

This is all our first aid stuff- it needs a happy little basket to call home.

Medicine cabinet- Before:
I don't think you could tell in the pic, but it was pretty grimy in there and in need of a good wipedown. It also suffered from general disorganization.

Medicine cabinet- After:

Much happier!

I saved the worst for last. The drawer between the sinks. Everything gets thrown in here. My stuff, hubby's stuff, you name it- it gets thrown in here.
Before:

Yikes.

After:

Isn't it amazing what a couple of drawer organizers will do? Well, that and getting rid of over half of the junk that was in there. I feel so much happier when I open the drawer now. I want to get some grippy shelf paper to put in the bottom of the drawer to keep the baskets from sliding around, because that drives. me. crazy.

So that's what I did today! It always amazes me how much better I feel after organizing and throwing away a big bag of things I don't need. It's like fitting into your skinny jeans- but for your house! I hope you feel inspired to do the same- please share your results with me if you organize in your bathroom!

  5. I invested in a few organizers this weekend. I used 2 in the Master Bath - 1 for the toothbrushes and toothpaste, the other is holding combs and nail clippers. We must have 2 sets of nail clippers in the house and yet couldn't find any.
The other organizer, I used in the kids bathroom for the toothbrushes and toothpaste.

We moved into the house in August and are still working on creating "homes" for certain items. Unless the item has a home, it is hard to make sure it goes back to the proper place. Hence the reason we couldn't find 1/20th of the nail clippers :)
